As the Director of the Office of Advanced Manufacturing at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) within the U.S. Department of Commerce, Mr. Molnar will address national trends in manufacturing along with new developments with the Manufacturing USA program. See bio.

Topic: The State of the Composites Industry

As the editor-in-chief for CompositesWorld Magazine, a B2B technical trade publication that serves the global composites manufacturing industry, Mr. Sloan will discuss the state of the composites industry along with the latest developments and trends. See bio.

Topic: Industry Growth Trends From End-Users & Market Data/Insights

As the Vice President of Composites Market Development for the American Composites Manufacturers Association, Mr. Coughlin will review the trends that affect the future of the composites industry based on industry feedback and insight, as well as market pull from OEM’s and end-users. Trends will include process simplification, automation, sustainability, and supply chain integration. Case studies as well as clear strategies to overcome challenges of growing the composites industry will also be discussed. See bio.

Topic: Graphene- Enabling Advanced Material Applications

As the Executive Director of The Graphene Council, Mr. Barkin will provide an overview of the current range of graphene materials and examples of commercial applications such as: composites (thermosets and thermoplastics), coatings and related applications for increased strength, lightweighting, EMI shielding, heat spreading and more. Topic: Composite Adoption Trends in Transport and Energy

Ryan Anderson is an Advanced Materials Analyst for Blooomberg-NEF (market analytics and forecasting). With low-cost wind power and lightweight vehicles accelerating the demand for composites, carbon fiber production is on the rise, and prices are falling. Ryan will speak to these trends based on his analytics and describe what is happening and when. See bio.

Topic: The Role of Engineered Compounds and 3D printing in Support of Industry 4.0 and Manufacturing Competitiveness

Tom Drye is Vice President of Emerging Markets, Innovation, and Application Development for Techmer PM, a materials design and solutions provider of custom engineered compounds. Mr. Drye will address the role that engineered compounds (in collaboration with large part additive printers) have played in US manufacturing.  Aspects discussed will be: design freedom, speed, cost, tool management, size, customization, autoclavability, and end-of-life recycling. Topic: Intro to Composites

As the Chief Technology Officer for UAMMI, Dr. Brent Strong will give an easy-to-understand introduction to composites for new employees, mktg & sales teams, gov/civic leaders etc. Dr. Strong is an emeritus professor of Manufacturing Engineering Technology at Brigham Young University and literally wrote the books on advanced materials by authoring/co-authroring 12 books and over 100 peer reviewed papers,  He is also a SAMPE Fellow and has served as the President of SAMPE International.
