Friends,
As many of you know, Jeff Edwards is stepping down as the UAMMI Executive Director. In his place, I am honored to have been selected as the new Executive Director and take over his leadership role. I am excited to meet and associate with all of you as we work together to grow this important industry in Utah.
We are currently experiencing an unprecedented moment in modern history right now. With uncertainty and fear all around us we are being required to be agile, flexible and most importantly resilient. We are also being asked to do what we do best – overcome our challenges and prevail.
In the past few months, it has become very clear that U.S. manufacturing is indeed a national security issue. As such, I strongly believe that it is our patriotic duty to find innovative ways to overcome these challenging times, to continue working and keeping businesses open, thus ensuring the future of our country. We must also find ways to support the many small businesses and suppliers that equally contribute to the U.S. advanced manufacturing and materials industry and not let them fail.
These will not be easy times, but by pulling together we can leverage each other’s strengths and capabilities to get through. At UAMMI, we are doing the same and have put together a team to gather information and resources for Utah’s advance materials manufacturers to help weather this storm. Our team is sifting through the barrage of information to provide meaningful resources customized for you and the rest of the Utah advanced materials and manufacturing industry.
Today, we are excited to announce a new UAMMI COVID-19 support program that will provide you with the best recovery and resources we can find. The central location for these resources will be at our new webpage: www.UAMMI.org/covid19. In addition we will be holding a webinar on April 1st and will make ourselves available for one-on-one consultations to those who need it.
The challenges ahead may not be easy, but as we all help each other, we will be able to weather this storm and come out stronger.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tulinda Larsen
Incoming Executive Director
