Jeff-Edwards-UAMMIFriends,

A few weeks ago I attended the Farnborough International Tradeshow in the UK.  It is one of the largest airshows of its kind in the world.  Along with exciting aircraft there were thousands of companies displaying just about every product and service you can imagine within the aerospace industry.  It was a unique experience to see so many industry companies in one place.

As a representative of UAMMI, I attended the show to gain a better understanding of how Utah can stay competitive and excel within the aerospace and advanced materials industry.  As I visited and observed some of the hundreds of companies that were there and the daily events, I came away with a very positive outlook for Utah’s position in this industry.  Almost everyone I met had heard of the great things we are doing here and expressed interest in doing more business with Utah companies. They were aware of our extensive history within the aerospace industry and the pioneering attitude our companies embrace.

At the show, over 20 companies with a Utah presence had booths within the exhibit hall.  This included six companies that exhibited in the Utah booth, which was organized by the World Trade Center Utah and GOED. In addition, nearly a dozen representatives from various Utah organizations, such as Lieutenant Governor Spencer Cox, were in attendance to meet with many of the leading aerospace companies in the world.

By all accounts the show was a big success. Many introductions and arrangements were made to do more business in Utah. It was an indication that great things are happening here and many people are aware of it.  Going forward, this will help us as we seek to become a globally recognized hotspot for advanced materials, manufacturing and aerospace.
