Recently, members of the UAMMI team represented Utah’s advanced materials industry at the 2019 CAMX show in Anaheim. Over 7,000 industry members and 500+ exhibitors attended this expanding show, which is now the biggest of its kind in the US.
Of the many activities that took place at our booth, the most exciting was the official launch of the UAMMI supply chain database tool, called CONNEX. As many of you know, this online tool is a searchable database of nearly every advanced material and manufacturing supplier and manufacturer in the state of Utah. It also contains a marketplace where companies can find buyers and sellers for industry items and donate expired materials and other equipment to school education programs.
The development of the tool began nearly two years ago with a grant from the Department of Defense (DoD), Office of Economic Adjustment. Since then, extensive interviews have been conducted with Utah companies regarding their capabilities, certifications, machinery, materials, workforce expertise and more. The data has now been entered into an online database tool (CONNEX) which allows users to find and pinpoint the exact supplier or manufacturer they are looking for according to their needs.
I am thrilled to announce the launch of this exciting tool that will enable anyone in or out of the state to easily locate Utah companies to meet their project requirements. It will allow Utah companies to better connect into the supply chain and increase business opportunities within the industry, which is a win-win for everyone.
