Join us for the next Manufacturing Council Event on Thursday, September 2nd, from 12:00 pm – 1:15 pm ET. Our speaker is Chanel Flores, Deputy Director of Utah Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Initiative (UAMMI), where she is a key for the implementation of the Utah Defense Manufacturing Community (UDMC), while contributing to the Small Business Administration Regional Innovation Cluster Programs (SBA RIC). The goal is to help the advanced manufacturing and materials industry thrive in Utah.
Ms. Flores’ topic is “The Employer Labor Shortage: Innovative Solutions to Build the Talent Pipeline and Address the Workforce Challenges.” There’s a looming concern that is being felt across every industry in the nation; employers need employees now and some on a very large scale.
According to the Labor Department’s JOLTS report, there were 9.3 million job openings across the U.S. in April alone, the highest level since the year 2000. To make matters worse, a total of 4 million people quit their jobs in the same month, another record high.
This trend has been dubbed the “Great Resignation”, with the largest resignations coming from those who are deemed mid-career (between the ages of 30 to 40 years old). Additionally, a recent report from Monster.com states that an astonishing 95% of workers are considering changing jobs.
How do companies meet current demand with a limited workforce and what are some long-term solutions for building the talent pipeline?
Join this engaging and time-sensitive discussion.
