The Society for the Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering (SAMPE) North America, selected the Utah Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Initiative (UAMMI) as the winner of their prestigious SAMPE 2020 Organizational Excellence Award – North America. This annual award is granted to organizations that exemplify the best of SAMPE from within the advanced materials and process community. Winners are selected from among industry, academia or government organizations.
UAMMI was one of two winners selected by the SAMPE North America Awards Committee, with the other being Airtech International, a composite tooling materials manufacturer. As a non-profit entity, UAMMI’s mission is to help connect, promote, educate and grow the advanced materials and manufacturing industry within Utah. Both winning organizations closely align with SAMPE’s mission of integrity, knowledge transfer, innovation and industry engagement.
“This year’s winners exemplify the best of our industry,” said Jerome Berg, SAMPE’s Executive Vice President and Chair of the North America Awards Committee. “This award is a direct reflection of the outstanding and innovative efforts of the people who work for Airtech International and UAMMI. Congratulations to them all.”
In addition, Utah’s Chanel Flores, industry director for the advanced manufacturing and aerospace and defense targeted industries at the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED), was recognized as a winner of the SAMPE 2020 Young Professionals Emerging Leadership Award.
“We are honored to receive this coveted award and also congratulate Ms. Flores,” said Dr. Tulinda Larsen, Executive Director of UAMMI. “With these two awards, Utah is leading the industry. We thank SAMPE for recognizing our outstanding team, board members and supporters who are dedicated to our mission to elevate Utah’s advanced materials and advance manufacturing industry. Receiving this award is recognition of the accomplishments by our team in these uniquely challenging times.”
The award finalists were recognized via an online awards ceremony on November 15th, 2020.
