SBA REGIONAL INNOVATION CLUSTER PROGRAM
In 2019, the Small Business Administration (SBA) announced that it would award UAMMI/Utah as a national Regional Innovation Cluster (RIC) for the advanced materials and manufacturing industry. As such, UAMMI would receive federal funds to grow the industry cluster in Utah. UAMMI was one of seven national organizations to receive the award from among dozens of applicants across the country (see all industry clusters here)
The objective of the SBA-RIC program is to use public-private partnerships to align federal resources and programs with existing state and local resources, regional strengths, and economic growth opportunities to build more prosperous small business ecosystems across the United States. UAMMI was determined to be a perfect fit for accomplishing this objective by providing various resources and programs across the state to grow the well-known advanced materials cluster in Utah
